Hi everyone, I'm kind of going the opposite direction of most, and have a few questions. First off, 2012 Yukon XL 1500 with the factory Bose system originally. When I bought the vehicle I had plans to eventually replace the crap Boss stereo with a good aftermarket, but life changes and right now my focus is just to restore all the functionality I've lost by putting in a factory stereo. Plan is to go to a few pick and pull type yards and try to find a stock stereo to swap in, but I need to understand a few things.
Will any 07-14 stereo work? My Yukon was originally equipped (build sheet from GM) with navigation, DVD (for the factory screens), rear seat audio, backup camera (display in mirror), and rear parking sensors.
Is there any security code needed, and if so where do I find it?
Yukon was built with Bose audio system, but does not have center dash speaker, are the stereo's specific to Bose system and are they marked? Will it matter that the center speaker isn't there, or is that possibly a different package that I didn't get?
Sorry I realize some of this may sound dumb, but I can pick up a stock stereo for $20-30, versus a Maestro for ~$200, and then I'd still need a decent head unit as the Boss unit is garbage. My main focus is restoring things like the turn signal "click", the parking sensors, as well as warning chimes and such that run through the stereo, the nav would be nice as well. While seatbelt warnings can be annoying, not getting any audible warning of engine issues is a bit concerning. Is there anything I'm not thinking of, or any recommendations that don't involve spending hundreds of dollars I don't have?
