Hello

The headlights on my 07 tahoe have an unclear, foggy, haze. I want to know how to restore them back the way they were from the factory. Anyways I know the they wet-sand and then buff/polish them. What are the steps on how to do it. Please include the grit of the sandpaper i need, the materials such as what kind and brand of rubbing compound i need. Also include detail in which ways to sand and techniques( up an down, left to right, circular motion ect). Or let me know if their a more convenient way to do it?

He are some pictures of the headlights.

Im in for this also. I was thinking about starting a thread like this sometime soon.

My 07 lights are starting to show some very slight fading. I need to find out how to stop it and repair the damage.

I tried wet sanding and polishing my lights on my 04 and for the time I spent it really wasnt worth the results.

Getting them clear is easy, it's getting them to stay that way that's hard. To get them clear it's as easy as scrubbing the headlight with whitening toothpaste. I've done this several time and it works great, but they will be foggy again in a few months. I've found that waxing them helps prolong it, but I haven't found a good solution for making it last longer. Perhaps clear coating them would help?

Most auto parts stores sell the 3M headlight restore kit. I used it on my Sierra and it worked like a charm, Comes with 3000grit sand paper, the buffing wheel, polishing compound and instructions..

QFT!

Also, if you can't find the 3M kit there is a Permatex kit for ~$15. My store has the Permatex kit in stock all the time. I've had many, many customers come in and buy it. I've never had a complaint about it. Some have even come back so they could do the headlights to other cars they own.

Turtle wax headlight restore 10 bucks and some free elbow grease. Been 2 months still looks good

The before pic looks like mine now. I'll have to try that stuff. Is it a kit with sandpaper or just a polish?

Yeah it has 4 different sand paper pads. A spray lube, conditioner and a clear coat. Works good for a cheap fix but apparently you have to do it more often once you use a kit like this.
