If I take that p/n that @George B found on zumbrota, 12471490, I can buy that on Ebay for less than $70 but the comparptibility tables say it doesn’t fit. But on Zumbrota website it says it does. For that money I would be willing to take the chance but idk.

Crap, now I can’t find the part number for the axle housing. I hope I don’t have to buy the whole diff. @915_Tahoe can you help a brother out? Last 8 of my VIN is 2J105097. I need the right axle housing but when I look it up on gmpartsdirect it shows 12479320 for non AWD or 12479295 for Crew Cab (?] even though I’m under parts listed by my vin. Neither looks exactly like mine, those both have around part that mine doesn’t have.

I don’t think they listed the correct number for an AWD one. Something isn’t right.

Awesome! How about the bearing and seal and anything else I need to install that? My parts lists aren’t correct obviously and I don’t want mistakes. Thanks @915_Tahoe !
Edit: looks like there’s an oil deflector, seal and bearing. I just want to make sure I order the right ones. I’m gonna try just replacing the axle tube and related since it looks like about $100 altogether. That’s worth the risk. I ordered the tube on eBay for $68 shipped.

Idk Mark, in my honest opinion, your first instinct is usually the correct one. I think you should go with a new one and get it over with. You could throw parts at it but “if” it was to break down few months down the line, you’ll be kicking your own ass! My 2 cents

Hate it when stuff breaks like that! Sleep on it; if you haven't decided by the morning, grab a coin and flip it for the decision.

Dammit. I hate when parts start adding up like this. So now it’s back to $200 plus. I cancelled the housing now. I’m gonna sleep on it like I said. Can’t believe I’m having this hard of a time deciding.

@ivin74[/USER] i hadn’t even thought about replacing both at 170k but you’re right. I didn’t really want to spend another $280 but I went ahead and ordered a second one. I do have to drain the diff so that’s $50 worth of fluids and I might as well do both at the same time.

At least you are not going to get stranded anymore. My rig has 179k miles and I'm about to replace both axles as security, I hate to get stranded on one of my 2500 mile road trips. I make those twice a year.
