Whenever you're finished with the garage, or at least get it to a point of function like how you want, just pull your Denali into it and perform some form of maintenance (check air pressure?), then drive it out into the back yard. This will officiate that the garage mods were, in fact, pertinent to your modding/servicing/building of your Denali and you will no longer be in violation of any forum rules or ethics, expressed or implied, and you will no longer be in danger of being banned from TYF.

Hell yeah. I was just thinking last night that I would drive The Beast through it as a christening.

So during the plumbing rework the dude mentioned that I might have a leak in the kitchen sink drain, which was close to the washing machine drain he hooked up. I forgot to crawl under there and look but finally did a few days ago. Wow. The only horizontal piece of cast iron left in the house was there, only 2’ of it before it connected to ABS. It was gone, completely rusted through the entire 2’. And after dude cut it out and replaced it, I could see why that drain was always slow. Until it rusted through, that is.

And today’s pics. The drywall is pretty much done, just had a couple spots that I didn’t quite get with the second coat so they’re drying tonight, then tomorrow I’ll sand those and primer everything. There’s a little extra drywall on the end where the new overhead door is going, I’ll cut it out when I frame that in but that will be Springtime. I don’t work in the cold anymore and I’m in no hurry. The overhead storage area will be getting sliding doors, I’m looking for 1/4” hardwood panel for that. I’ll also use the same design on the cabinet doors on the under-workbench storage as well as the over-workbench cabinets I build. I know it doesn’t look like much but it’s come along way from where it was. Oh, and I ordered a new LG washer and dryer (wi-if enabled) just because the others are getting up there in age, plus they were 25% off. I’ll sell the old set before they break down. The attic stairs will be here Friday, the hinges for the cabinet over the W/D also on Friday which will be good, I’ll get the cabinet in before the W/D is delivered which is Sunday AM. Next after that is bench and cabinet design/ construction.

Yep, it’s layers of the cast iron pipe, rusted and expanded until it was a pretty much solid plug. The plumber says he sees it a lot on old houses, and sometimes he will run an auger through to clear a blockage but it ends up going right through the side of the pipe. I replaced all the cast under the house that was still there when I bought it but not that 2’ section. The addition is all plastic plumbing.

Wifi washer and dryer! Can you start the machines from your cell phone?

Supposedly have full control. It will be nice to put the dryer on the steam wrinkle remover cycle and be able to see just as it’s ending so I can remove and fold them immediately. I have to use my iPhone timer now, and the time always changes as the clothes get close to the end, seems the dryer keeps adding a few minutes and I have to keep resetting my iPhone timer. Also, there was something about the washer either telling the dryer what to set itself to for the load it just washed, or telling me what cycle to set the dryer to. They both have steam, all kinds of cycles and there’s all kinds of options of course. They’re supposedly truly “smart” appliances. Kinda cool.

Paint is done, lights are reinstalled. The new W/D are gonna shine under these bright ass LED’s. If you like how LED’s brighten up your ride you’ll love how they brighten up your shop. The camera doesn’t do them justice, these are bright af.
