I picked up my '00 Yukon with apparently a rear bumper from a freight train, lol. It is definitely custom, made entirely out of diamond plate, angle iron, and somehow, and trailer hitch is in there too. The previous owner used it to tow his boat up and back to Otisco Lake, NY every year, so I know it is capable, but is no longer as solid as it used to be. Rusty as all hell, rotted in some parts, and now the RH barn door occasionally rubs on it.

I made the executive decision to replace it, but I dont know with what. I like the idea of an OEM/reproduction bumper, but I dont like the price tag associated with that. If i get a roll pan, which I've always wanted, I can have easier access to the cargo area (bad injury on my upper shin/lower knee area...ive flared it back up leaning into the back of my brother in law's burb, not fun), and initial cost is cheap. Granted i have to get it painted and doesnt provide any protection in the event of the receiving end of a fender bender, but it would definitely look cool.

I would love to hear what everyones opinion is on this matter, and i am open to any/all criticism haha. Thanks!!

Bump

In hindsight, I think I should have just gotten the roll pan. We were able to paint the primer bumper I did get with the rustoleum color match paint, no professional paint job at all, because now I need the extra money to figure out what the hell's wrong with my coil packs. A friend of mine said I should have gotten the roll pan. I said "it doesnt provide any protection". His response was "if someone hits you, theyre paying for it!" he also said to just not back into anything. I drive in reverse a lot, so by now hitting anything is an extremely rare occasion, but would look into the revers sensors anyway. Just my $.02 for anyone maybe considering the same thing. I'd do it differently in a heartbeat. Thanks.

Get a backup camera if your worried about backing into things... a roll pan would definitely give easier access to the cargo area.
