Chads93GT - thanks for the info.. didn't mean to hijack your topic! thankfully, the grand am is only 1 out of 3 vehicles that i have to drive.. so considering how i don't have the money right now to fix it and have other cars to drive.. it will be in the drive-way until it gets fixed. i'd rather drive my yukon anyway. i was just tryin to save on gas for a bit but not anymore lol

btw, last question... how many hubs do vehicles generally have?

rear wheel drive vehicles have 2 hubs, front, even 4x4 vehicles have front hubs, they just have holes in them which are splined for the half shafts to fit into to turn the front wheels. This is on non solid axle vehicles of course. solid axle 4x4's dont really have hubs.

You could say that front wheel drive vehicles have 4 hubs, as they dont have a solid rear axle. Rear axle vehicles (trucks, mustangs, camaro's, etc) have rear wheel bearings that the axles spin on inside the housing. A hub is basically an independent "bearing" assembly. Hopefully that doesnt confuse you ;)

my uncle has an 01 yukon xl 2wd. 330k miles. only 1 air compressor and u joints twice. factory stock besides that down to the shocks. only changed the trans fluid once.

my truck has 125k. im doing hubs on monday. i just did front sway bar links and shocks. before the year is up i plan on changes all fluids and i also need u joints. also want to get the AC flushed and refilled. not many people realize how much trash gets into AC lines and causes AC failure. much cheaper to get it flushed every 75k miles or so.

You know I forgot, i did do a U joint around 120k, and i just did do all 4 shocks hahah. Ive never touched the trans, as for the AC, front ac works, rear doesnt. Im guessing the rear expansion valve is plugged. Good to hear your uncles is still going too

man i used to consider a vehicle with over 200k basically done and wore out but I guess as long as you do what your suppose to and have common sense itll last forever.
