Im getting 10mpg in my 2006 5.3 4x2. Both before and after my tune up which consisted of completelt seafoaming the truck (oil, vaccuum, throttle body, and gas tank), oil change and filter, air filter, spark plugs and wires. The only thing left to do is the injectors. That has to be the problem, right? Anything else effected and of your guys mpg that bad? I drive 75% highway to and from work. I dont beat on the truck at all. Doesnt make sense.

Injectors wouldn't have anything to do with poor fuel economy I wouldn't bother spending the cash on that. If it was an injector you would notice poor idle, loss of power, or misfire.

How's the fuel filter? Have you cleaned the MAF? It's not the injectors...you'd likely be getting a code for that or at least a little smoke.

How many miles on the truck? Could be catalytic converters bad or going bad...especially if you've been running rich.

The fuel filter in my year is inside the tank. I think i figured out why i have poor milage since my BRAKES WILL NOT DISENGAGE. They are so tight on the disc right now that the truck wont even move. So im thinking theyve been mildy applied while ive been driving, causing the poor milage. I wont know until it gets towed to the shop tomorrow. I am completely brake system illiterate, besodes changing my disks and pads. When it got tuned up last week it happened while at the shop, but they disengaged. My mechanic says he highly doubts its the master cylinder. I took the fuse out for ABS until i clean or replace my wheel speed sensor so it isnt the ABS locking them up. I am completely stumped on this one.

Thanls for the info on the injecors though. Thats one less thing to look at. It has 146k on her and runs solid. Its just these stupid little things that all happen at once.

Just got the truck back from the shop... they got the brakes to lock up twice but everytime they'd go investigate, the pressure would release... I popped the fuse for the abs until i fix the wheel speed sensor so its not the abs pump... could it be an issue with the hydro boost? I knocked the hydroboost line off for literally a second and a half last week before this locking up problem started... any way thats part of this? Air in the lines? I heard hydroboost is self-bleeding when it comes to air. Ofcourse I'm a newb and could be 110 percent wrong

jkstop, did you ever resolve this problem? I've been thinking the same thing with my 06 Tahoe, I average around 10.5 MPG, and every other owner I have talked to in this area is averaging between 14-16, i understand everyones commutes and driving habits are different, but it seems like i am definitely losing MPG somewhere, just can't figure out where :emotions122:

Thats where im at, never get over 11 around town and average 15 on highway. Ive done a ton and dumped alot of money replacing parts (for maintenance and trying to get mpg up) but nothing has worked. Only thing left I can do is Efans, BB tune, knocks and intake gasket, all of which are sitting in my garage ready to be installed. If that doesnt help it has to be the nature of it and EVERY tahoe is different.
