2004 yukon slt starts in auto if u put in 4 hi it says service. Then goes in 2wd.. thoughts on where to begin

Common problem. I was told to use 4wd every now and then to keep things functioning. If I remember correctly it can be the switch on the transfer case getting old or a ground wire also.

Is there a write up or part numbers? My lincoln aviator has 4wd but we are gonna switch off this winter driving to work

I have the same message and a rubbing scratching sound coming from the front end kinda like somethings not disengaging ..... If its not one thing its another.... Lol

I have a vibration sound like maybe the gas tank skid plate thing is loose from when I changed fuel pump.

I used to leave mine in auto all the time when I first had my truck. Starting noticing a noise and when I asked the dealer they said leave it in 2WD, not auto. I didn't realize there is still some engagement going on if you leave it in auto. I thought it only occurred in low traction situations.
