I wanted to follow up for anyone who has the “service suspension system” issue in the future and the dealer can’t find any stored codes. I bought a SC 530 scan tool off amazon. Plugged it in the obd port, navigated to the electronic suspension control module and observed the wheel accelerometers. I found that the right front wheel accelerometer voltage would fluctuate driving around and even parked when I rotated the steering wheel left and right. When the right front wheel accelerometer voltage intermittently dropped to zero volts it would trigger the “service suspension system” message momentarily until the voltage increased from 0 volts.

I ordered a new right front wheel accelerometer and installed it. I have had stable voltage readings, no intermittent drops to 0 volts and no more “service suspension system” messages. IMG_8941.jpeg

After weekend camping out in the Oregon High Dessert and 20F lows, my 2021 Yukon Denali with 59K miles showed the "Service Suspension System" on the console. I pointed the shop to this thread and it seems to be right on as far as the repair needed as they said it looked like a 'stick' or 'something' damaged the wiring at or near the acceleration sensor on one of the wheels.

This is possible as I drove a bit on rutted dessert road paths (not quite 'a road') amid low level sage brush / rough terrain. Plus the message appeared on start-up after 2 days of sitting thru 20F low nights rather than during a specific driving event as described here. Also, when I got home and opened the hood a jack rabbit near the battery was staring at me - do rabbits chew wires?

On the down side - don't like to think of my 2021 Yukon with 8" clearance and 4wd as a 'fragile' vehicle and hope this was just bad luck!

On the up side - Love this forum to help point focus in the right direction. Thanks to all the posters and the forum managers!

Tech notes say, "something came up in to the wheel well and damaged a sealed harness". How high up is that? The "low level sage brush" & rough terrain, you mention may not have been that low level. I live in Oregon and have been in the high desert before in all weather conditions and seasons. With all the aerodynamics built in to the vehicle for MPG efficiency, it is a street/pavement vehicle that if taken off road in "rutted desert road paths (not quite a road) may have clearance problems.

The worst I've done (so far) is go out to Virgin Valley Campground and nearby Opal Mines off Highway 140 - about 1/2 way between Lakeview OR and Winnemucca NV. Driving the mile (or so) from the campground to the little canyon view point there was sage brush that brushed the side of the car here and there but pretty sure I didn't 'run over anything' directly.

Also went out to the OPAL mines nearby and when down a claim 'rut' a mile or so but again, wasn't aware that I ran over anything. Also explored a campground near a reservoir in same area as Virgin Valley where the car was 'brushed' a bit on the sides with dessert plants.

BUT this was 6 weeks ago and the recent trip was to Plush OR and the Sun Stone Collection area - mostly paved travel but also gravel smooth enough for 30-50mph - no ruts or brush. Here's some pics to illustrate.

Maybe something brushed up into the wheel well 6 weeks ago and the problem just showed up recently? During the 20F lows?

I don't understand the delay between damage and message on the console. The auto-shop guys suggested it more likely a 'freak' thing than an off-road thing. In the freak category, it's possible to just run over something (a stick) driving down the highway so might not be 'off-road' related at all.

Not sure - which is why I'm sharing as much info as I can. Maybe it will help in the future. At least the issue was straight-forward to find/fix!

Google it and take a trip to Christmas valley and make a reservation to eat at Cowboy Dinnertree Restaurant. You will not regret it. Yes, make a reservation, they are busy busy all the time. You CANNOT walk away from there feeling you did not get enough to eat.

Yes sir, thank you for mentioning it - we visited the restaurant at Fort Rock a year (or 2) ago and learned about it and it's on our bucket list! We love "Silver Creek Marsh Campground" (10miles south of Sliver Lake) and want to plan a stay there with evening at Dinnertree which we understand is just south of Sliver Lake.
