unknown at this time.
I have to do shocks as one of my repairs. I will ocassionally haul maybe twice a year a toolbox twice a year in the back and most of the time not.I thought I would get monroe airs for the rear and rancho 5000's for the fronts. Any thoughts? Should I stick with 5000's in the rear as well? I should also add that both leaf spring packs are broke so they will be replaced. Maybe an extra leaf and ranchos instead of air shocks?

It looks like I should get to all my repairs starting this week and should be finished hopefully by end of feburary. Will be dumping close to 3k in it at once of borrowed money.

I would run bilstein HD shocks, replace the spring packs and think about an add a leaf maybe.

Run these. http://www.suspensionconnection.com/cgi-bin/suscon/2101CS6.html
You will never have to worry again and you don't have to disconect and reconect the helper spring. You can add the pump with switch and gauge for another 200 bucks and you will be able to set up the ride that you like. I bought a helwig helper spring and it's great but I find my self disconecting it from time to time and it takes about 20 min. With the bags you can either fire up a house compressor and fill them or push a valve and deflate them. Or just hit a switch.

I have the same air bag setup on my truck and i love it. I tow a 5,000lb trailer 2-3 times a week. I just air them up when i hook up the trailer and deflate them when i un hook. Love it because i don't sacrifice any ride quality when i'm not towing. I also need to change my shocks, I was considering the rancho's but ill have to look at the bilstien's.

Boo billsteins.. Ive had two pair fail prematurely. Ive had rs5000's and no problems. I also put in a set of rear air bags and those are great for towing!

Hey 99 2dr Which bags do you have? I wanted the Firestones but I couldn't get them to fit my 2 door 4wd. I would have to basically rebuild the bracket that comes with the kit.
I went with the lift-rite single bag instead. Still have to put it on though.
Suspension connection are good guys to do business with.

Sunlit- I would go with the bilstein's and air bags.

I've had the Rancho RS5000 for like 3 years now and I've never had any problems with them. I think they ride pretty well...but then again my truck is a truck and is 16 years old with over 200k on it. But Bilsteins are good too.

I would vote for the Air / Lift helper air bags. I think they are much more durable than the air shocks, plus you can get better performing shocks without the air option.

I have had Air / Lifts on several of my trucks for many years. Neve and issue, and easy to use. I install the fill port in the floor on the outside of the drivers seat. I can just open the drivers door put the air in and while driving, I can reach down and bleed some air if I got it a little stiff. On one of my applications, a 1 ton cab chassis, it have an on boad pump with the ability to fill each bag separately for controlling load for side to side. That's pretty slick to with a 5,000 pound additional capacity. Has two gauges on the dash with the pump and release levers on the panel.

Works great for picking up the extra load of the car hauler when loaded.

Best part is, you can drop the pressure down when not using it and go back to stock suspension.

Plus they are easy to install. No hassles..............

Mine are the lift rite, they work great and have never leaked down on me at all.

As for the bilsteins, we ran them on our race cars for years and never had problems within them however they were linear digressive racing shocks, i have no experience with them on the street.
