Its has a pretty good size lift with 38s..He wanted 5000, he came down to 4000...finally went to test drive it and the transmission wasnt the greatest....its going to need work...i tried to get him to come down on the price but no budge....would it be worth buy and getting the transmission worked on or a new transmission...i've never owned one of these so Im not sure of the price on neither one....I had a guy here at work say he knows someone who can do it for 700-900 bucks...and the steering was real loose...he replaced the tie rods last week and still has wiggle...So my question is....Is 4k worth? with the whole transmission problem

one example is you can open the diffy and either count the number of teeth on ring and pinion, look for ratio stamped on them or try the video below.

I bring this up because if the gears were not changed to compensate for the bigger tires it could be why the tranny is failing so you would have do the tranny and gears.

It's a nice looking truck for sure. Perhaps though he is tired of pouring money into it. Being that you're not the one who did all the upgrading, you don't know what the thing has been through or what's on the fringe.

with 38's it should be 4.56 minimum to return the engine rpm into the the proper power band and relieve the drivetrain strain.won't be much on getting the original mileage tho.

Just a piece of advice any 15-20 year old vehicle will need some TLC , Id say 4k is "ok" minding if the rest of the truck is rust free , engine is in decent shape and everything else checks out .
