I’ve read through some of the skid plate forums and am not quite finding the info I’m after. Recently had my OEM plastic cover (part number noted above) fall off and grind a good chunk away on the pavement. Not real keen on spending a ton of money replacing it, are there replacements besides the $200+ GM Parts Direct option?? Looks like some folks recommend skid plates that involve tapping new holes, I really just want to protect that area again for as cheap as possible.

2015 Suburban LTZ 4x4. In Michigan if anybody wants to sell me their OEM cover :)

Thank you!!

local fab shop, have a piece of sheet metal cut and bent to the rough shape. drill, paint and install. too many get hug up on actual appearance and fancy rolling's.

I had to replace mine and got mine from Summit Racing for $13. A perfect fit!

Sorry...the one I posted only fits up to 2014. But you might want to try Summit. I’m sure they have it for your year.

The plate is there to increase gas mileage by preventing turbulence in the engine compartment and insuring a smooth flow beneath the underbody. IT is in no way a skid plate, at least not against anything harder than the plastic itself. The same goes for any of the factory metal ones either for the base models or for the models with the "off road" package that have the metal 'chin' plate further forward. They will not protect against strikes on fixed rocks . . . they offer some protection against bouncing rock no larger than your fist.

NONE of the OEM items . . . INCLUDING THE Steel TRANSFER CASE "SKID PLATE" functions as a real skid plate! In order to function that way it would have to be very close to stout enough to jack the vehicle from that point.

Replace it with the cheapest thing you can find, pref. the OEM plastic, and your mileage will go back up slightly.

I've been looking under Chevrolet metal, steel, aluminum front splash guards , front skid plates, etc. etc. with no luck. Any ideas on search criteria or vendors?

The GM part number for the skid plates is 23176881. I got some take-offs off of eBay. Didn’t need them to be brand new for their purpose so it worked out perfectly.

bought mine off of ebay as well, got the set for pretty reasonable, there not listed all the time so you just have to keep checking back
23135960, 23135959 are the numbers you want to look for, the 2 piece kit is a different part number but contains both the numbers I just listed.
and those will fit 2015-2020 tahoe, yukon, yukon xl, suburban, escalade, escalade esv, silverado, sierra.
and there is another plate for the transfer case, 23282726 there always listed for the colorado/canyon but will fit all suv/pickup from 00-20

I bought the transfer case and oil pan skid plates used, so I'm good there. Just looking for a metal replacement for the plastic front splash guard. Question now is whether it will fit/replace the front splash guard on a 2013 LT 4WD.
Thanks for the info
