Ya, I went through replacing EVERYTHING mentioned above, even adjusted the torsion keys to get some 33's under it before having it realigned. The only thing I haven't replaced is the gears in the steering box, which is what they suggested next...but I read about this sensor on another forum and replaced that instead, no more slop :)

Issue with steering

Hey, I have some slack in my steering as well, and ALSO, if I need to do a Uturn, the steering gets very difficult to turn the wheel...once truck is straight it loosens up again..Uturns feel like its back in the old days when they had no power steering....any suggestions before I get taken at a shop?

Thanks in advance

i purchase the part at Autozone.. they call it "Steering Wheel Speed" and the picture is above.

i have also purchase the Pitman, and both Idler arm and where the Idler arm connects to.. i will install it tommorow and see what happen next..

i will also Flush the Power Stearing Fluid and see what happen..

How do you adjust the Power steering Gearbox? i heard you could adjust that.. can my SUV Gearbox be adjusted. if yes, HOW?

Is this sensor in all 95-99 tahoes? My front end feels a little sloppy but im used to driving my smaller cars. Im replacing the shocks this weekend and might just go through the bushings.

Bringing up dead thread. Is there any way to check if this steering sensor is bad? I have pretty loose steering on a new to me 99 tahoe, and I'm wondering if this is the cause. I can buy one at Rockauto for $53 shipped, but would be nice not to just start throwing parts at it.

Thx!

I saw someone run some sort of cleaner thru the power steering system to make it work like new again. Found it on youtube years ago. Maybe something to look into?
