Like anything with body work involved, it comes down to prep work and the quality of the products used. if he just filled them with Bondo, then I would say its a good bet they will crack and come apart at some time. Now if he used a good dura glass filler, then a slight skim coat of bondo and then a scuff coat of glazing putty. this will last.

oh okay, I was just wondering. My bass rattles those vents so want sure if putting smooth caps would stop that.

i found otat the little rubber flappers are what makes noise from my bass. drives me nots and dont know of a way to make it stop. i dont want to remove the flaps

It depends on all the elements they're subjected to. My buddy has had a set on his hoe for 4 years that are made the exact same way, and we live in Indiana and they see all 4 seasons at that. His are still going strong.
