Ok, after reading many threads on many forums, I am still confused. The various models of VCIM units are used on different vehciles.
in a nut shell , whats is the unit I need for my 08 tahoe LT3 non-nav, bose speakers.
I have parts manager friend that I am going to hit up for new one.
Pretty psyched, this truck was really in need of bluetooth.

Mmm ... very interesting thanks for that info. :waytogo:

Do you happen to have the ebay linkie and do you know if it's the same vcim pn for the 09 Hybrid?

Nice HyHoe btw ... it's like looking in the mirror ten months ago. :)

Serge everywhere I read said this is what people get when they have an 07/08 and that 09+ already has Bluetooth? I'm confused. You sure you don't have it?

You need one from an 10+ Tahoe

Just installed my VCIM #20787107. I purchased on Ebay for $250 through the current seller which a number of you referenced. This guy is basically the only Ebay seller who has Bluetooth VCIM's for sale at this time.

I installed while reinstalling my GMX 550 Lockpick. Which I had to remove prior to taking my Tahoe in for some warranty work. (Got a brand new Nav Unit out of the visit).

The install was pretty simple. Basically just removing the old VCIM and replacing with the new one. I did have difficulty pairing until I read this forum. Unlike the rental 2011 Suburban I drove while my Tahoe was at the dealer, bluetooth pairing took an extra step. You have to push the phone control on the steering wheel for 2 seconds, then say Onstar - Bluetooth - Pair in order to pair the phone. For some reason I didn't have to do this on the 2011 Burb. Aside from that everything works perfect.

I haven't tested my GMX 550 again, but don't anticipate any problems. FYI if anyone is installing a Lockpick, put it behind the XM module(which is behind the glove compartment). Coasteltech recommends you put it on top of the VCIM. This is a mistake, as it really doesn't fit and makes reinstalling the AC controls a pain. You can also update with ease since the Lockpick must be plugged in to your vehicle to upgrade. Which means popping off the trim again.

new VCIM on a 2008 Tahoe LTZ

Hey guys,

New to the forum. Just bought a 2008 Tahoe LTZ blk on blk :) i love it. I had problem that a $40k truck did not have a bluetooth. So i did a lot of research and found al ot of info in this forum about switching the VCIM and how it worked. So i bought one from ebay part#20787107 for $250, by the time i came home from work it was there :), so i couldn't wait and started to do the install (at night with flashlights lol). It took me about an hour to install it, mostly becuase i couldn't see, easy install. IT WORKS AWESOOMEEEEE i loveee itttt. Thanks to everyone here for doing such a great job on posting their results and steps how to do it.

I searched and didn't see what I was looking for so I'll just ask. I did this once before last year but I took it out and gave it to my father in law and ordered me another one. (the vcim) anyways in about to put it back in but last time I installed it it wasn't picking up my voice to pair the Bluetooth. I installed a factory nav in my non Bose truck so in order to pair the phones I has to uninstall my nav and put my old radio unit back in, pair my phone, and then put my nav back in. Maybe I'm in the wrong thread but my voice controls won't work with the oem nav.

Less than $200 that's for sure. They used to go for 100-150 but then everyone that was selling it decided to jack up the prices... Which sucks.
