Interesting does anyone have any insight as to why are the part numbers for this unit being superseded already so frequently ???

I mean i know it’s common for part numbers to be superseded over many years time maybe when raw parts are sourced elsewhere and/or when small changes are made to said part or for other reasons, but like 5+ PN’s the same exact part, for just as many model years seems weird af.

Just a guess, different vendor(s) and/or design improvement(s).

Clearly there have been problems with some earlier versions of the module as there was at least 1 recall.

GM looks for ANY excuse to 'update' part numbers -
different maker / supplier / manufacturing plant, even of an otherwise identical part
different / new production run (otherwise identical Allison trans control modules have different part numbers depending on when they were made, by Allison)

in short, almost anything you can think of as an EXCUSE for a new part number ...

FWIW - I was on RockAuto today ordering oil and filters - took another look at the FPCM and it's showing as being available to order again - albeit a 1 day delay...

But why though? Part number confusion brings customers to the parts counter giving dealerships an opportunity to upsell parts and service ? lol maybe that’s the cynic in me but..?

Ever get the impression, that if a group of people ACTUALLY wanted to TRULY solve the problem they say they exist to solve, they'd be out of business?
So even if they earnestly try, they still keep failing due to the unconscious knowledge that truly solving the problem is their very demise?

It's not THAT paradoxical. It's more like an adolescent ouroboros trying to fatten itself so its tail won't fit in its own mouth when that day comes.

The point is, the 'extra' part numbers are for GM, NOT for us. GM knows what the extra part numbers mean TO THEM,
while we are slowed trying to figure out which part number we actually want or need.
