i see a lot of people running 20+ inch rims

they cant even afford the tires no tread left on them
I run 22- 26’s and replace tires at about 20-25% tread left. I figure the old ones can go on someone’s beater, probably can find my old tires at the used tire places. There was a time when I was poor and drove pieces of shit and bought someone else’s used tires.

I do the same. And I never seem to time it where theres enough tread for one more summer. I usually end up with that much in the fall.

Running bald tires or what?
Neither time they were bald. First time was in the 90's on my S10 with newish tires, Uniroyal Laredo tires. Happened on rte 80. Think that one was a slow leak. The other was on my old work van. I had hit a curb, and a small bubble appeared on the sidewall. Totally my fault as I tried running it as long as I could.20200510_163517.jpg

I used to be good friends with the guys at the local junkyard, and they'd call me when they got a fresh wreck if it had fairly decent tires in the size I needed. Those were the days!

Im glad I created a good topic that everyone is giving there options! There's pros and cons both ways. I doubt I'm going to be able to find a transport wheel as a spare. For the price they want for those I might as well just buy a set of new wheels as a back up set!!!! Ridiculous.

So I think the lesson is that if you don’t take care of your tires you might have a blowout?
