Hi all, I’m trying to find out the AC Delco part number for irridium spark plugs for my LQ4. Shopping on Amazon is a headache sometimes when it says it’s not the correct one for my vehicle. Also, should I be going with iridium or platinum or?

I believe the part numbers you wanna search are #12680072 or #41-162. James @swathdiver might be able to confirm. I'd shop for the NGK equivalent as well. IMO, whatever came in it from the factory, platinum or iridium, will be perfectly fine and you'd notice no difference whatsoever between either.

IMO, don't buy them off Amazon unless you can ascertain that they are genuine. Amazon is or was flooded with counterfeit spark plugs. Generally, if their price is too good, they're probably fake.

Curiously, ACDelco and RockAuto do not list that plug for an LQ4. They recommend the 41-962/19299585 Double Platinum as the OE plug.

They also show the old school R44LTSM/19354418 and the ACDelco Professional 19307137 Rapidfire. All with a .040 Gap.

As Chris stated, be VERY cautious buying from Amazon, Amazon sellers and from ebay as counterfeits abound and they are wrecking engines. I'd recommend a dealership, Summit Racing or Rock Auto, the latter being my usual first choice.

My '04 5.3 came with 41-985s. I inquired directly to ACDelco about the unavailability of those, and this is the response I received:

"Regarding your inquiry for spark plug for VIN [cut], we show the correct part number to be 41-962. The 41-985 are discontinued and they do show to supersede to 12621258 which is not available and they are no longer recommended for your vehicle. The engineers have made the change to the new spark plug.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact our experts at the ACDelco support center by dialing 1-800-ACDELCO (223-3526).

We appreciate your business.

Regards,

ACDelco Internet Response Team"

So the updated spec is for double platinums, but others on here can list the correct iridium plugs that are equivalent to the discontinued OE 41-985s.

Ok! Thanks! Good to know. Yeah I was noticing the prices and thought it was really cheap. Like 90$ for plugs and wires

That's why I tagged you in! My quick Google search led me to Summit. I thought surely they'd have their stuff together. But, here's yet another lesson learned in this thread. Thank you for trying to teach me, sir! Don't give up on me!
