I know not all of these trucks came with spotlights, but was this a factory installed option or did they go to an upfitter type place to get them done? My truck had a spotlight at one time but did not come with one when I bought it. I've had the interior A pillar trim off and it looks like it was kind of hacked in there. I can't imagine it was factory installed, but I've got nothing to compare it to. Does anyone have parts breakdown or someplace I could look to see an exploded view? I'd like to either find a light and put it back in or fix it up right so I don't have to worry about water. My googlefu is weak, I haven't had much luck looking around. Thanks.

Upfitters.

For install, just Google any of the big light manufacturers. Whelen of course would be a big one.

Not much luck with Whelen, but I did find a Unity mount kit for about $60. I can't find any instructions for it, and the pic of the kit looks kind of generic. Maybe I'll just have to spring for it and hope for the best. I'm wanting to see how they seal coming through the a pillar. It looks like the mount goes on the inside so I'm having a hard time telling how water is kept out.

I wish they had left the spotlights and push guard on mine before they sold it off. But some places leave some of the equipment on and some strip it all off. I would like to put a spotlight back on the the drivers side and have been in the hunt for a push guard. I do know that the wiring in the pillar is still hot if I decide to put one back in.

And some strip the oddest stuff off and leave other. Our '12 Caprice had an deck lid antenna still on the car, about $80 new, but they took the $10 ticket light.

@phil, I think if the truck is supposed to have a spot GM will punch the hole, since the A-pillar is a very high-strength steel, and the manufacturer would prefer to put it in the prescribed location using proper tools for safety reasons. I'd bet, though, if the truck didn't have the option, and therefore didn't get the punch, an upfitter would just make do with a cobalt drill bit, or two, and deal with sealing later.

I could be wrong for the Tahoe, but I know that for the '11-17 Caprice, Holden did the hole punching, since it took a special tool that they clamped to the A-pillar before the glass and door seals are installed.
