Newbie to the Chevy world. Brought a 2016 Tahoe LS with 70k miles about 3 weeks ago.

Didn’t notice at first, but there’s a squeaky creaking noise coming from the rear suspension every time I go over a rough patch of road or speed bump. The more travel on the suspension the louder.

I’m still under dealership warranty but they’ve had the truck for 4 days now and can’t figure out what it is (dealership is a Toyota dealership).

The truck is only 2 yrs old but sounds like it has a 20yr old suspension! Anyone run into this problem? They first said it was the rotors but now they think it’s coming from the drivetrain.

I did install a magnaflow exhaust about a week and a half ago and have noticed the noise getting louder. Doubt that has anything to do with it but who knows.

Help! I want my truck back.

Have someone move up and down on the rear bumper pad and you listen underneath. Good luck.

Yep. It’s one of the many reasons why I don’t own vehicles for more than 4-5 years lol. My dealer can’t figure it out either.

You MAY want to check the brake lines and make sure they aren’t rubbing. Sometimes the dealer needs to grease mine. But the sound associated with that it usually more or a thump than a creak

This is a common issue.

Since it's still under warranty, take it to a Chevy dealer. They will very likely narrow it down quickly.

"Grease a brake line"? Seriously? Like, rub some grease on the outside of a metal tube or rubber hose?

They meant the parking-brake line. It is a very common problem they squeak over time.

That makes a lot more sense. But still, something that's under tension it's entire life should've been better routed or sheathed in something.

They used a zip tie to keep the emergency brake line from rubbing against something. Squeak gone.
