Stabilitrak disable function?

To turn off traction control, press
and release traction button on the instrument
panel. The appropriate DIC

I think the option to do that disappeared in 2013, as I'm finding out. Haven't had any yet, but I always loved getting out in the fresh snow for a little drifting. Been doing that for 47 years just for fun.

Are you sure you are holding the button in long enough?
That was copied out of 2014 manual.

Just pull the fuse when you don't want it enabled, if you don't want stabiltrac you won't want abs either they will both disabled and light will be on till you put fuse back in. Or just wire in a toggle switch for convenience

Mike turning off both traction/stabiltrac on the 12+ PPV does not work(. Your only choice is on or traction control off, not both. But on the SSV you can turn off both. go figure!!!! Like I said above if you want to turn it off(traction/stabitrac) just unplug the brake fluid level sensor and you still retain ABS function. Gene late model 2010 ppv had both seeing that you dont have the button. Enjoy!!!!

I press and hold my button a few seconds (hehe) and both go off.... then i can play in snow, grass and power brake the tires if it if i wanted....2013 tahoe LT

Thanks Solace. That worked in the ACC position. I had been trying it in the on position. It showed 9968 hours at 73000 miles.

Your engine hours are absolutely OBSCENE! I would do all normal maintenance you would do at 125-150k. As a reference, my truck has about 118k with not even 4000hrs on the clock.

You truck must've sat idling all 24hrs/7days/52weeks

YOU CAN DISABLE STABILITRACK COMPLETELY BY HOLDING THE TRACTION CONTROL BUTTON DOWN FOR 5+ SECONDS.....there will be ZERO safety features on allowing full drift modes and amazing rally-crossing in the Michigan snows!!

As Doubeleive mentioned you can pull the fuse for the stabilitrac system and that will disable ABS, stabilitrac and traction control but this can get pretty annoying every time you want to disable it. Since I off road often I simply pulled the fuse and added a wire that goes into the cab where I put a relay and a switch with the proper fuse so I can disable it at will. It works great and fully disables all those annoying systems when I'm in lose dirt and sand or just want to have some fun ;-). If you want pictures and or a wiring diagram let me know and I'll post them.

Opt you should try unplugging the brake fluid level sensor? It disables the Traction Control/stabiltrac but retain ABS function. If so inclined all you would need cut one wire and add a switch to it. No need for a relay

Good to know, I believe you but that's so counter intuitive... Also ABS is another thing that can hinder off roading

EDIT: I wrote this on my phones browser so I came out pretty bad, lets try again...

This is good to know and I believe you, I think it is really odd that it works this way (counter intuitive) because I would think that the ABS would care more about having fluid than the traction control but w/e... You'll go insane trying to figure out why these engineers and "programmers" do things the way they do.

For me at least ABS is another thing that can get in the way while going slowly down a steep hill with one or two wheels off the ground at any given time. When I'm doing things that the engineers don't consider when designing these systems I prefer to remove them and make the decisions on my own. I work with computers all day, I'll probably never trust them... ever.
