07, yukon xl denali, 105000. Drove over and hour just fine on the highway, cold day. Pulled off, turned left in to a parking lot, it died mid turn and I had to muscle the steering wheel to complete the turn, thank god it was me driving not my wife.
I tried numerous times but it would only crank, no start. Called a tow. 2 hours later when he got there it restarted without any issue. I had it towed in, and, no shock here, they found nothing and said "good luck"!
When it died the warning lights did not come on, so it's like the car didn't even know the engine died.
That is NOT acceptable! I now cannot trust my vehicle. I can't go on long trips, can't safely put my family in it. There are a thousand deadly scenarios about when it could randomly die and the loss of power steering and brakes could be devastating. I now see this problem all over the forums and net but without actual resolution. What on earth can I do? I just bought it so i can't sell it without losing like $5000. Plus I'm guessing that's what the previous owner did.
Here are all the things I had read thus far that have been the culprit:
1. Crank position sensor
2. battery (it's brand new)
3. alternator
4. fuel pump
5. ground strap
6. wiring harness behind power steering
what else?
Also, how do we not have a sticky about such a prolific problem?
Thanks for any thoughts!
