07, yukon xl denali, 105000. Drove over and hour just fine on the highway, cold day. Pulled off, turned left in to a parking lot, it died mid turn and I had to muscle the steering wheel to complete the turn, thank god it was me driving not my wife.
I tried numerous times but it would only crank, no start. Called a tow. 2 hours later when he got there it restarted without any issue. I had it towed in, and, no shock here, they found nothing and said "good luck"!
When it died the warning lights did not come on, so it's like the car didn't even know the engine died.

That is NOT acceptable! I now cannot trust my vehicle. I can't go on long trips, can't safely put my family in it. There are a thousand deadly scenarios about when it could randomly die and the loss of power steering and brakes could be devastating. I now see this problem all over the forums and net but without actual resolution. What on earth can I do? I just bought it so i can't sell it without losing like $5000. Plus I'm guessing that's what the previous owner did.

Here are all the things I had read thus far that have been the culprit:
1. Crank position sensor
2. battery (it's brand new)
3. alternator
4. fuel pump
5. ground strap
6. wiring harness behind power steering

what else?
Also, how do we not have a sticky about such a prolific problem?
Thanks for any thoughts!

Well I'd say it's not the battery or alternator since it still cranks.

If I had to take a stab at it I'd go with the fuel pump. Not specific to your year, but I've seen pumps go out and a tap on the tank with a hammer can get them working again. So indeed they can be flaky. Truly sympathetic towards your reliability/safety concerns bro.

Maybe take it in to another shop

how old is the battery? Bad Batteries are known to cause a stalling symptom. ********* on "found nothing" ,their would be at least pending code for fuel pressure drop or lost communication with PCM at the very least. E38 ecm's log and count active&inactive DTC's.. so if the engine stalls the check engine light would illuminate because the Crank Position reluctor isn't sending signal, the truck knows the BCM didn't get a key off signal From the ignition switch. The dealer is probably using a TECH2..

There isn't a sticky on this because as far as I know it isn't a common problem for these vehicles to randomly die. But as far as the dealer finding nothing, I'd have to say they didn't look hard.

I asked they put their master tech on it, they said they used their Chevy specific code reader.
Look up Yukon stalled on Google. Hundreds of hits describing exactly what I did, and with no resolution to most all. As I said, I already know 3 people who have had this problem. 2 couldn't get it solved and sold their trucks.
I agree it's bs, hence my frustration

What should I insist they use?

Hundreds of hits on millions of these platforms sold wouldn't be a "common" issue. But I do sympathize on the issue and I hope the previous owner didn't sell you a lemon. That would be crappy
