I've been on this forum for years and I can assure you it's not a common issue. But believe what you may. If it was as common as you think it would be all over this forum but it's not. There ARE common problems with this platform but that's not one of them. But one thing you might consider is if you come on a forum and have to start convincing the long-time members that there is a" common problem" that's " all over the forums" and yet we're not aware of it until you tell us, you may be misinformed. I do hope you find the resolution quickly.

Hate to ask this question. Has someone looked at the Catalytic Convertors? Next time it does this, look and see if they are glowing red hot! Had a vehicle that did that to me. Darn thing would start every time after cooling off the CATs. Hope this helps, cost me around $700 to have mine replaced. Highway robbery if I may say. Your vehicle might have two. Good luck!

I had the exact same problem/symptoms on a different GM platform and it was the crank position sensor. If I remember right it was super cheap, I would start there. Also, know cel codes, may have had one "deeper" but my cheap scanner at the time wouldn't read it.
