Hello everyone,
Former Ford Forum guy here turned Chevy. Ford putting V6 Ecoboost's in everything just wasn't sitting right with me. So my wife and I bought an '18 Tahoe Z71. So far its great, however one thing that concerns me, is it has a noticeable whine upon startup. Does not sound "trucky". Is this just how these vehicles sound? Or should I be looking into this a bit more.

Welcome to the forum.

If can post a recording of noise would be best.

Does the noise go away and if so, how quick and do you just accel and it goes away?

May have glazed belt or noisy idler/tensioner pulley.

If you have a mechanic's stethoscope, that is a great inexpensive tool to search for noises.

I had a whine at start up in my 2019 6.2. It ended up being the starter.

I experienced a startup whine one time, years ago, after bringing a F*L*O*O*Z*Y home from the bar and flopping in to bed.
