My 2004 Tahoe was hard to turn left with a whining sound. So I changed the power steering well after it was hard to turn right but no whining sound. I went ahead and replaced the hose from power steering pump and the gearbox. Still wis hard to turn right. Next I replaced the gearbox. Now when Tahoe is moving its kind of easy to turn right. I noticed that when I come to a complete stop and turn right it turns easy but when I come to an intersection where I don't need to stop and am turn right it gets hard while slowing down. So what I noticed is when I have foot on brake it is when it is hard to turn right. If anyone knows could it be the hydroboost that's causing the problem?

Found out it was the rebuilt gearbox that was the problem since there was no whining from power steering. Went to the pickapart and bought a used one and it steers perfect now.

@serg2019 I have a 04 Yukon Denali xl. I have loose steering pulling to the right and it is hard to turn left when I'm slightly applying the break. It sounds like that I am having the same gearbox issues that you were once having. My question is is there a way to adjust it or should I do a full replacement? The suspension on my front end is all basically new less than a year old and I had multiple adjustments done so now I'm thinking gearbox as I was just made aware that this could be my issue but no advise was given on how to approach it. While I have you when I get above 65 mph there is a humming noise that I hear coming from what I believe is the rear. I'm running 20in rims on 33inch offroads, but that humming is not that. It is my belief that it may be my wheel hub that need to be replaced. Do you think that it may be my rear end gear box or drive shaft? Or would that be a whole different noise altogether?
