So decided to change the intake manifold gaskets and I got the "might as wells" and decided to take off the head in the driver side to fix a broken stud on the exhaust manifold that is driving me nuts. But this stupid @ss power steering pump braket is in my way. Gm u suck! So do I really have to go rent tools to take off this pulley to get to the bolts that hold this bracket?

NOOOO!! there is another slotted bracket leg below and left of pulley looking back. there are also 3 nuts attaching to threaded rods that aluminum mount go on the head .undo all that and pump/aluminum mount slide forward off the rods threaded in to front end of cylinder head.

looks like a TBI motor. just undo those 2 bolts from that bracket on the exhaust manifold and slightly pull the bracket up while slipping the manifold down... changed to headers and still didnt need to take off my pump

The pulley is like $15 to rent at Autozone, not worth risking breaking that bracket, you get that $15 back when you return the part.

breaking the bracket? not here. wasnt even close of pulling it hard. just so it slides down and your golden. Autozone tools by me are always junk and never worth a damn..

The big one not the small one lol. I've snapped one before pulling on it too hard trying to make enough room ...

Thanks for the advice.. two nuts in the back of the pump, wedged the bracket, got the bolts off, slid down the manifold. I think I will be able to get to the broken stud with a punch, reverse bits, and my angle drill. Ill attempt it. If not, then Ill remove the head.

I would put headers if I was keeping it. Im going to sell it after I get these little things fixed. Plus i dont drive it. Ive maybe put like 100 miles on it in the last three months..
