i say cornering at 60mph in the rain with a posted speed of 70 mph is your issue.

It does it at any speed. Wet or dry. A Vehicle with a jerk when turning /cornering isn't fun to fight. I'll try the above suggestion on the EVO, and disregard your driving critique.

They don't know what the hell they are talking about because they have a 95 and 96. The evo steering didn't start until 97. I have felt the steering wheel jerk and it scares the shit of of you. But mine hasn't done it in a long time, so I haven't bothered replacing the sensor or anything. I might unplug the sensor from the box and see if there is any improvement.

I have the same problem and stumbled upon this thread today. I ordered the sensor and it will be here for me to install this weekend. I hope this fixes the problem. My issue is exactly as described feeling like you're hitting a patch of black ice then the truck making an aggressive turn into the direction you were already turning the wheel. It's especially frustrating when you're just making gentle turns around a bend and all of a sudden your headed towards the ditch.

I didn't understand the problem but what I have is when I try to park tge Tahoe the steering become very heavy so I need to shift from D to N and press gas to free the steering wheel again!

I just replaced the steering oil it seems much better but I know it will last few days only

Is this the same problem?

I did replaced the steering gears and ends

If you have EVO sensor on back of your PS pump, try disconnecting it and drive around/park.
This will give you full power assist regardless of your speed.
If this corrects your problem then find a replacment EVO.
If you still have heavy steering with no EVO connected your problem could be a failing PS pump.
If it is the pump; save yourself the pain of the rebuilt ones, get yourself a new one.

My truck does this! I thought it was just me jerking the wheel too much or something. But i can be turning right and the wheel just goes! Like all of a sudden it gives me full power steering and cuts it after a split second
