New to the forum! - I have a 02 Chevy Tahoe. I have been having issues with the stereo, fuse in my Rockford 250.2 amp keeps blowing the second I put it in and turn on the stereo. So currently I have taken out the amp, unhooked the amp wire from the battery and breaker switch under the hood. I have used the wires from my previous car, a Monte Carlo, that had been totaled and so I needed a vehicle asap so I bought the Tahoe and threw the stereo from the Monte into the Tahoe. Wires did get pinched after I foolishly ran them over where the seats fold down so hence, every time I fold the seats down for something they get pinched more. First I thought the breaker was bad but its not. So I am thinking of running all new wire, but I'm not sure how many feet I need to purchase. I have been without a stereo for a few months now and it's starting to get nice out again and I would like to get every thing done - miss my stereo!!

Depends how far back your amp is. Unless it's all the way back, 20ft will do. It's not too expensive so 25ft will be plenty. Usually the 17ft RCAs are just right

What do you suggest for a gauge of wire for a smaller amp? Its a 250.2 Rockford Fosgate and its pushing a 12" Rockford P3

8 GA will be just fine. However if you ever want to upgrade I would run 4 GA because that 250.2 isn't nearly enough for that p3

Haha I know..it's a small amp, I purchased it from my ex bf and so far it's done it's job pretty well, but I do need something a little bigger, I would be pushing two subs but I need the room in the back for my saddles/horse equipment. I was going between 4 and 8 gauge...I will probably just go with 8 gauge - I had 4 gauge ground in my Monte Carlo and it was to large so I had to trim excess wire, not sure if that takes away from the power or not.... thanks for the input guys !!
