I need a good close up of the trans temp gauge on a 04. I going to put a stepper motor in my cluster and make my trans gauge work. I want to see how the numbers is set up so I can put some on mine so I know what the temp is. You can post it on here or email it to me. My email is [email protected] thanks in advance

you can just buy the complete overlay for $80.
Trans isn;t a separate gauge overlay that you cna run off with a vinyl printer.

don't understand but ...
there are plenty of pics on e-bay or z-71tahoe-subarban.com if you are looking to add numbers on top of the existing 'Double D' with rubbing transfer or something?

Excuse me for trying to help you.

$80 is the cost for the STOCK 2500HD Overlay you are looking for. The crappy 'ugly' ones cost far more. IE $80 is the 'cheap' option.

BTW It is also called an 'applique'... for GM the word is apparently synonymous with "whachamacallit."

Unfortunately for you and I, unless they are busted, the clusters generally sell complete, since the clusters are worth more complete ($150-$250) than the overlays are worth new.

If you really hope to find one used, you might want to put up an ad on GMFS.com in the classifieds where you are far more likely to find 2500HD owners that might be upgrading to blingy shit.

DItto for here, If you want to make a parts wanted thread, you need to post that in the Classifieds when you get 45 more posts

i believe if you buy a denali or escalade cluster, the trans temp gauge just works.

Do all SUVs come with the plug for tranny? I would like to do this swap in an '01 tahoe but not sure if the plug is there...

The temp reading for your tranny is already in your computer. All you need is the correct cluster. When you plug it in it should work. You cant just buy a single guage the cluster comes as a whole unit I beleive. I personally dont like the look of it. I'm leaning towards a OBD2 reader for my Burb. Good luck on your search.

The spot is there in my cluster looks like you can put a stepper motor and a light and it looks like it would work and have a over lay with the temp gauge

Yes you can add a stepper motor to your cluster but, I've read that it is hit or miss if your cluster will show the tranny temp without getting the cluster programed @ the dealership.
