So i just got this 1999 Tahoe.. Well unlike the rest of the forums it seems.. i have a CRT monitor (Small 10" or so) in the center arm rest/console with VCR mounted below this. (all still working well) Now First, Is it really stock for the 99?? lol.. Secondly, Using the space (Where monitor vcr occupy) What are some good upgrade (LCD/DVD type replacements without too much wiring to replace. (Want to still use similar setup with the Headphone inputs in the Pillars on the sides. Just got this so i appreciate the help, I'm just looking for options. Thanks

Head unit and speakers will be going soon as well lol. Not a huge fan of the stock setup. Just a matter of $$ and time. Just gathering information for the moment being. Thanks again folks.

Do you have pics of your setup good sir? For head unit are you going single din or double din? Couple members have really great posts on their did conversions.

Single most likely (looks like a 1.5 din stock in it if i'm not mistaken with sep CD player) I'll get pics later today or tomorrow, just got done cleaning inside (was nasty) For now all is going to be in expensive replacement for the stock system. But later i know i will be changing down the line.

Ok here's pic of setup.. (Some part of me doesnt' believe it's stock) Excuse the bezel (Surround) top plastic piece is gone.. planning on remaking from wood and recovering. (Especially if i mount the Monitor their.. have thought of a flipdown instead. Convert that to a cubby or storage of some sort. Anywho, thanks for the input.

Just realized i put this is wrong section.... Mods mind helping a brotha out and relocating me please!

Crazy. Couldn't say if that's stock but you could change that TV for a little LCD then throw a bluray down in there. Doesnt look too bad. Kinda reminds me of the TV/VCR in my old 90 full size Chevy van.

I've seen a screen on the back of some escalade consoles and some tahoes had an flipdown screen.

Never seen one like that though.

That's kinda what i was thinking.. LCD Bluray or DVD swap. Has 4 headphone jacks on Pillar (near rear door) and sound also comes from Aux in stereo. So i'm leaning that way or Stand Alone DVD player in that console and 2 headrest monitors to display it.. I figured they had DVD at that time (Roof mount) I definatly laughed about the setup intially lol...

Good news is.. There's already two 12V sources down there for power to whatever i decide to do. Less wire work for me. Just have to fab up the mounts.

Dealer installed option for sure or a local conversion company. My parents had a OBS suburban with the same setup.
