Supercharging questions??

More specifically concerning procharger's system w/ intercooler.
1st of all what kind of power would I be looking at? I know they give a percentage on their site but any one have a real world number preferable someone with headers and an aftermarket exhaust.
2nd will I be saying bye bye to my tranny fairly quickly if I do the mod?
3rd Procharger claims they have the most efficient sc out there, under normal driving how much would it hurt my mileage?
4th I heard something about needing to change the wiring to the fuel pump when putting this thing together. Whats that about?
I would like to have input from people who know this stuff first if thats possible. Nothing personal its just theories only go so far :). I know a couple of people have them on here I just didn't want to bother them with all these questions.

I dont know too much about supercharging and stuff but to your 3rd question, I think I heard that under regular driving conditions you will get better gas mileage not worse. So it shouldnt hurt your mileage at all.

You will be making good power with the SC don't forget due to the fact we have a AT some power is lost. I highly suggest you get a tranny cooler to help prolong the longevity of the AT and a tranny temp gauge (not important...but I would). Also focusing on how to put all that power to the ground...a shit kit, gears, and a stall. Pick one, personally go with a shift kit. Its actually better for the tranny. As it takes less heat to shift.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get A BLACK BEAR tune that will make your Performance gains THE SHIT!

S/C is like any other perofrmance MOD if you beat the piss out of it, you looser MPG, but if you drive like a normal person it will increase as you are adding more air into the combustion process. BUT...it can be tricky.

Why you need to re-wire your pump...changing wires to make the fuel pump more efficient aka pump more fuel for the S/C...I could have sworn that the you have to add a BOOST-A PUMP which comes weith the kit. An intercooler would be **** also add a BOV...an RFL BOV. :) Had one on my DSM and you can hear me blowin up, down and around the block!

I wish I had the funds right now a Vortech or Procharger Kit...I spent a year looking for one till I just got a whipple.

when i put my magnacharger on my silverado we had to change the fuel pump and re-wire the new one. im not sure what prochargers call for. if your going to have a heavy foot your mpg will be horrible but if you drive it normal you shouldnt see any loss. and as of trannys my trans with a shift kit/vette servo/cooler lasted 8 months and about 10 passes behind my maggie.

If you are planning on using the OBD2 with the S/C, talk to one of the “tuners” that does forced induction and follow their instructions.

Adding air by itself does not increase power. If your going into a bone stock engine, the compression ratio is probably around 10 to 1. There is not much room for additional air, without creating a detonation condition. Some guys use E85 instead of race gas, but it must be tuned for it.

75 to 100 hp can be expected with 5-6 pounds of boost. Don’t expect to save a lot of money on gas. The average guy with a S/C tends to be heavy on the throttle.

Chances of engine and transmission failure are greatly increased with the added power. If you are convinced that the S/C is the way to go, focus on fuel and control issues.

Headers and exhaust are nice, but not as important with boost. Normally aspirated, those things are important, but once you start pumping the air into the engine, it will find it’s way past the minor obstructions.

Do not expect to strap any old blower on your truck and have great results. If the proper amount of fuel does not go into the engine with the added air, you can make a 6,000 pound paper weight in no time.

It is also highly unlikely that your stock fuel pump can satisfy any S/C. Find someone who has successfully programmed a OBD2 for a S/C and listen to their recommendations.

Or, try to find someone with a S/C that is currently running on their truck, that wants to sell and go back to N/A. That way, you could be sure of getting all the parts needed and possibly a tune to go with it.

You might be better off to get a “wet” NOS setup for a 100 or 150hp boost. Save a lot of time an trouble and still have the same results when needed.
