I have an 05 Tahoe. It has captains chairs in the second row and a bench seat in the back.

Can I swap them? Will the back bench seat fit the middle seating brackets or do I need to buy a new seat?

Where do you even buy a bench seat? Wrecking yard maybe?

Tahoes could be had with/without 3rd row. Usually the base models didn't come with it.
As far as changing to a bench seat, a pick and pull is your best bet. The brackets and what not are different since the bench and captains chairs fold differently. You'll probably have to drill into floor but if you place the bench seat in and then trace out the bolt pattern you should be good.

There is an 04 Z71 on a local lot with out third row. It's got the second row bench in the tan/camel leather. They are out there in the higher trim levels if you look hard enough. You know how many time Ive thought of test driving it to my garage for a middle row seat swap! Lol!

What about swapping an 03 Yukon 2nd row bench with an 03 Escalade 2nd row captain chairs?

I know the Escalades had a 2nd row captain chairs option, but I'm not sure about the Yukon. That's why I ask about the Escalade.

Anyways, does anyone believe/know if this is possible?

All 2nd row seating in Tahoes,Yukons, and Escalades are interchangeable. Same bolts just different brackets between bench and buckets/captains as long as it's the same body style.

Is it different brackets because the bench has two on each side totaling four, while the buckets have four each totaling eight?
I'm assuming there would need to be brackets near the center of the truck for the buckets, right?

Any idea how I could approach this issue?

In these vehicles (Tahoe/Escalade/Yukon), there are 8 bolts sticking up on the floor for the 2nd row seats.

In bucket seats: The Driver side just gets fastened down to the four on the driver side, and the passenger side seat gets fastened to the four bolts on that side.

On the bench seats (60/40): FIRST The Passenger side is fastened with the four bolts, and then SECOND the Driver side (Heavy sumbich) gets placed on the four bolts on the driver side, but it also goes on (2) smaller bolts that are on the passenger side seat.

I hope I made that clear enough..

NOTE: If you do swap, be sure (if you care about small details) to get all the plastic covers for the bolts, as well as the folding things(?) for behind the seats when you fold the seats down.
