Well I got into my first wreck about a week ago. I love my Tahoe so I was really disappointed to say the least. Damaged my fender, hood, bumper, grille etc.
I just got my Tahoe out of the collision repair shop and need some advice on the repairs.

Mainly the grille they used, it doesn't look like the factory OEM version that was originally on it. If you notice the middle insert on the grill doesn't "wrap" around the bowtie. If they're willing to, should I have them replace it? I'm waiting for the service adviser to call me back. Plus there seems to be a wider gap between my hood and grille, as well as the fender and bumper.
Am I just being overly picky?

I paid my deductible so the whole process was through my insurance company.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

i agree that the gap looks slightly bigger. The grill looks a bit more custom to me, though, and I kind of like it. Does your policy or state have any rules around OEM parts being used?

Not sure about the rules in my state. I guess that's worth checking up on.
The gap between my hood and grille is really bothersome but I dont exactly have another z71 Tahoe to compare it to in person.

How is the gap with the hood and fender? It wasn't a bad hit, that's an easy fix. As for parts - it depends on your insurance policy. If you have a copy of your estimate it will state aftermarket or OEM parts. Some shops are good about matching prices for OEM vs. using aftermarket.

totally different grill. the area around the bowtie looks bad too. i would fight it. it totally unwilling to go new OEM, atleast make them find a good used OEM grill and paint to match. will be 100% better than whats there now.

I would really like them to get me an OEM replacement . I just don't want them to think I'm being unreasonable. Not sure if a major pain for the shop, labor wise, to swap out the grille.

Keep in mind, its not always the shop, its the Ins. company. 1 hr to paint the grille, 1 hr to swap. At our rates (not sure what yours are) that's about $100 plus the cost of the grille (maybe $250). They may not eat that since the job wasn't that big to begin with. Never hurts to ask, but also remember, when you pick up the vehicle, you're stating that the repair was made to your expectations.

I'd try to get it replaced with oem. The fender to hood gap you can adjust by turning the bump stops on both sides of the hood. As far the bumper to fender gap loosen up the bumper bracket and place a jack under it and it should adjust when you jack it up make sure you tighten the bolts before letting the jack down. I had to do it to my 2000 tahoe alot of people have the bumper gap problem I need to do it to my 2001 its the same way
