Let me know if I'm crazy or if these guys are.

Your crazy. :lol2:

It's not just a panel or a door. There's a lot more involved. $48 an hour for labor isn't bad at all. And I bet the 50 hours is pretty close to what it will actually be. These people have been doing it for years.

Won't comment on the less insurance thing. Insurance is a gamble, and I guess you loss this round.

So, you really think it's fair?

yup. That's a MAJOR accident. Not just a fender-bender. A guy totaled his car hitting you. There's a lot more damage then just a fender and door and some paint.

Like others have said, get 3 or 4 estimates and I bet they're all gonna be around the same price give or take $500 or so...

What good is insurance if it doesn't even cover collisions? That's like buying a bicycle without tires...

50 hours sounds LOW. I'd take it anyday

I think that bid is right on if not a little cheap IMO! As Nathan pointed out there is a lot more to that accident than just a fender and door!! You got friggin tagged dude.

If you want it totaled..... or closer to "demand new, genuine GM parts". As that will push the $ bill $ up there closer to the totaled mark.....!?!?!?

X2

Also price of aftermarket vs oem parts is also a huge difference. Do you know which one your body shop is quoting you with?

On a side note, I pay $1400 every 6 months for both vehicles and I have collision insurance.... what insurance company are you with? I'm with progressive and they are competitively priced. You might want to price around some different quotes from other insurance companies :/

I've got AAA and we pay 550 every six months for our 3 rides. The burb has full coverage (about 250 every 6) and the other two are liability.
