They use metric for 95% of the fasteners on the truck. The plugs will still use SAE. If you want a nice tool kit look into Mac, Matco, Blue point, or Snap on. I use Snap on for most of my stuff but have tools from all of them. Plugs I would go with the factory replacement AC Delco if you arent needing to change heat range for performance mods.

What else do you plan on changing for your tune up?

idk should i keep the wires or i have to buy new ones?? looks like the stock are pretty good.. but im gonna change the spark plugs for sure.. yeah im thinking of buying a nice ratchet and a complete metric socket set..

is it really needed to drop 400 on an exhaust??/ im thinking of getting a flowmaster 70 series muffler with a decent tip will that give me some mpg and performance??

i think dropping 500 on an exhaust will be worth it if you doin a complete performance overhaul dont u think??

im planning to do only black bear tune, voolant air intake and flowmaster muffler.. that shoudl give me some performance and fuel milage right?

To be honest your MPG will decrease as your foot will enjoy the new found power. I'm the wrong guy for the exhuast question as I'm kinda a mod snob. I either buy the best or build my own using the best parts. For example the exhuast on my S-10 in my sig was over $3,000. I would never ever buy a flowmaster muffler. They drone, rot, and sound like shit but thats just my .02

Wires I always use MSD. Plugs I go to NGK, but only because I fiddle around with heat range to find what it likes. I know Justin (BBP) is a good tuner but I do all my own tuning.

FYI buy the best tools or tool set you can afford.... they are worth it in the long run. I don't buy crapsman... people say" they have a lifetime warranty", but everytime it breaks you have to drive to a sears and get a replacement. I have one rachet that is a crapsman and it has been replaced 7 times in under 5 years. I just break it and stick it in my console until I go back by a sears and have it replaced.... and so one.

Best of luck!

I bought some GM performance brand tools. They have a warranty. I am not a mechanic and see no real point in dumping cash into MAC or Snapon tools. I never have had an issue with craftsman or kobalt.

If you want a new muffler I would stick with flow master. I have had 3 so far. Started with my jeep then a 99 Tahoe and now my suburban. Always have worked well and sounded great.

I would recommend dura last plug wires if you want something that is good and has warranty I just installed mine as well as new plugs.

Definately buy new wires. You'll likely destroy at least a few of the old ones getting them off.

Also be carefull with wires if you have a 6.0L. I had to return a set after finding out there are two part numbers listed for the OEM and Bosch. The 6L requires the longer wires.

PCM tunes can help. I haven't ordered one yet for my Escalade, but have had experience in the past with PCM for less on my Trailblazer. I specified a lower RPM power tune (basically the towing tune) and my highway mileage went up about 2mpg on the 4.2L I6 in that vehicle. I was amazed when I drove the truck cross country and got 24.5mpg on the flat parts. I definately wouldn't expect that kind of gain on our larger engines, but anything helps at $4+ a gallon, right?
