About a week ago my left side rear brake light/turn signal went out. Attempting to replace the bulb did nothing so I assumed it was the circuit board. Two days later the same happened to the riight rear of my vehicle. I managed to get that one to turn back on by toying with the bulbs, only to have it die again the other day. I put all new bulbs in, tried to change the boards again, and checked the fuses and it still will not work. The top light strip still lights up when I hit the brakes, giving that my only working brake light at this moment. I'm not very good with the electric part of things, and was wondering if there was somewhere I can look for a more obvious anwser than laying there looking stupid and being lost following the wrong thing. Its a 1999 two door tahoe.

I had the same problem with my Tahoe... you'll have to purchase/install a new turn signal/wiper control/cruise/hazard assembly. The cheapest place I found to get mine was 1aauto.com.

You'll have to remove the air bag and steering wheel (easy to do with the right tools - rent/borrow from a friend or parts house), and one of the hardest parts is fishing the new cable around the steering column below the dash. There are youtube videos available that are pretty easy to follow and have all the details you'll need (PART 1) (PART 2).

Turn signal assembly, brake switch, tail light wiring, ground wires, fried/ corroded circuit board terminals... These would be a couple things 2 look into...

Mine did basically what yours did, the last guy put in some trailer wiring and after time a wire rubbed off the insulation and was causing some issues... Check for anything like that.
