I just bought a 98 tahoe, got a great deal. It has a fiberglass roll pan on it, that is cracked and looks really bad. I also got a used bumper for free, I would like to put that on instead and add a hitch. Is it possible to weld the pieces of frame that were cut off back on so I can install the original bumper? Or, does anyone know of another hitch that fits a rollpan on one of these besides the sir michales one?

Can you post a picture where it was cut. It should be no problem normally. Also are the bumper braces and mounts still intact?

If you can temp move the wiring component and do a very good clean up on rust it would work but just fill in the gaps as best as you can. After that a would smooth out the welds and also add a reinforcement side plate to that if you ever plan on stepping on that thing. And finally paint the repair to prevent further corrosion.

heres a picture i took of when i cut my frame off.. This will give you somewhat of an indication to cut on the junkyard frame if thats the route your going.
But yea, clean off the rust where your going to weld it at. make sure everything is alined right. If ones higher then the other, your bumper will slant, unless you shim the bolts or something..
