if I am going on a extended road trip I usually will throw in a small basic tool bag with the common size mm used, duck tape, zip ties, little bit of bailing wire, flashlight, water in some form. just some basic stuff that might save me a $300 minor repair at a opportunist shop. oh and CASH I usually stuff my wallet with about a $1000 in mixed bills it's come in handy before when you get somewhere and discover the atm is down or point of sale isn't working, etc.
All good points. To me those things aren't road-trip specific, I already carry them in all my vehicles.

We have a console vault in both trucks. Makes it easier to store extra/emergency cash, extra set of keys, and other necessary "items."

NICE. I didn't realize they made a custom vault for this vehicle. I have just used a small cabled lockbox. This is definitely on my list now.

Yeah, they do. It takes up almost the whole console and is pricey.

I mounted a combination locking pistol case using 2 of the factory screw locations in the bottom of the console. I had to drill holes in the bottom of the lockbox, but it gets covered by foam.

I can post pics later after I get home

I prefer the custom-fit look. You can see the face is recessed, so there's still room for work gloves, phone, etc.

It's a fully-enclosed steel box, so even if a bad guy rips it out of the truck, they still have to contend with breaking into it. Not foolproof, of course, but just greatly reduces the likelihood of your weapon being used against you. They can smash and grab, and then crack it open when they get home.

Yes please. I wouldn't mind seeing your setup.
It's just a ~$20 lock box I can put a pistol or my wallet, cash, etc.

I believe where the 2 factory bolts that I mounted to has a recess in the floor of the console for the bolt head. I just used a couple washers sitting in the recess to make it flush with the rest of the floor.

I then took longer bolts that will screw into the threads and put them in temporarily and marked the heads with chalk. Positioned the lockbox where I wanted it and pressed down so the chalk would leave marks on the bottom showing where to drill holes.

You could make the holes a bit bigger than the bolt and use a washer, allowing for a bit of movement to fine tune the fitment before tightening.

Buy/bring a Garmin gps. Runs off satellite instead of towers.....rural areas are issues for cell signals.

And....imo its far better than silly phone app for gps.

Oh yeah baby...
