tbi vs carb!

i just picked up a 383 stroker kit for my 97tahoe 5.7l vortec. im already got the motor at the machine shop getting it all done up. ok. most of my friends are calling me stupid for running the throttle body and not a carb. i really dont want to run a carb cuz i spent 500 dollars for a nitrous kit for it like 7 months ago. so with the 383 and a good size cam and a 100shot of nx and all kinds of goods what would u do? i got a bad a** tuner for the throttle body computer and a good tuner for the carb. so tbi or carb????

If you want to drive it on the streets in Texas you need to stay away from the carb. Even for a basic no emission test inspection they are supposed to observe you motor for altercations to the emissions system.

A carb is better for performance, flat out. A TBI can only be altered so much and can only go so far for performance. If you want to stick with TBI there are things you can do to make it feed a powerful motor though, but you still won't be able to get more than like 650 cfm out of it regardless of what aftermarket one you buy or whatever as far as I know (Though you might not need more than that for a 383 depending on how much flow the heads make).

im just doing the normal head work to the vortec heads. i already have a bord throttle body. i was thankin doing a injectors.. the guy thats helpping me do all my build is a sick dude at motor building. hes been doing it sents indians and cowboy days. lol he said with the 100shot or 150shot of nitrous set up that im running the vortec tbi will be great.

Not really understanding this, you got a 97 TBI???? I thought 96-up were SCFI, unless you converted back to TBI?? Anyway if it's SCFI, I'd convert to the MPI spider unit and that'll handle about 400 HP, and run a hell of a lot better then a Carbed motor, with a carbed motor your always guessing.

TBI, well you can use the 7.4L throttle body and an Edelbrock intake, but thats about it.

Same as your current SCFI spider unit, except it uses actual Delphi injectors at the end of each tube instead of poppet valves. This ebay ad is an awsome price. I did this install for my pop on his 96 Burb when the SFI regulator went causing the truck to run crap. Will do to mine when I get the extra doe.
