Wont connect to our 2002 gmc
what do you mean by "wont connect" are you choosing the correct vin? if you just go down the list and try each one it will tell what vehicle it expects
if you are not getting any data on the obd port then check to see if you have power at the cigarette lighter/power port the same fuse is used for the obd communication
also the vxdiag software has to be started first and left running in the background before you open tech2win

I see by his picture of that the Tech2 software is detecting the CANdi module attached so it’s at least seeing the connector.

George, are you selecting the correct product line after you pick the year? I had to google to figure out which one my Yukon was.

So first the cable was bad out of the box. I used a different cable for an old android phone and was able to get it to connect “once” and check for DTCs and get in to look at the HVAC mode doors. I have the vxdiag running and then open the tech2win. Select 2002 and then go to GMC truck. Have menus to choose the various systems from there. Went into HVAC and saw the option for the module tests but from there it either errors that I lost connection or flashes like it keeps reloading the page.

the cable could be a problem, if it is not pushing 5v thru very well it could potentially be a issue. I would try to find a nice thick one at the store or just get the best one they have to see if that helps. If the vehicle battery is low that could be a problem also if you are going to be doing extended testing I would hook up a charger. If none of that helps then it could be the laptop usb port is weak voltage wise and you try using a different usb port or use a powered usb hub or docking station.

if none of the above helps then you may either have a funky vxdiag or there is a problem with the lan bus on the truck.

I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that the emulated software has some limitations and can’t read or do certain things?

The only reason I went with the vxdiag is because I got stuck with the laptop and couldn’t return it. I am really wanting the Tech2 clone handheld.
