it will program just like the tech2, it's tech2win, works exactly the same, as for the gds2 function I haven't tried to program with it just diagnoseI thought only a Tech2 could program modules. Have you actually done it?
those hard drives they sell are configured for older lenovo laptops like a t21 or something like that. I considered buying one, the laptops are under $100 on ebay (bare bones). some of those software are timed to the year, when 2021 rolled over I had to get the new firmware now I think it expires in 2030 or it might be at the end of the year again don't remember at the moment I haven't had to use it lately.Doubelieve- Thanks for a different perspective. I don't use it that often and each new vehicle has a different menu it seems. Right now my GM only is running in linux with wine. Once everything was configured and working, I used a Timeshift utility to snapshot system. So if I get in trouble with updates I can return to a working config in minutes.
For the VXDiag Pro, I bought a preloaded hard drive for 11 makes. So far I'm working through Keyboard and mouse issues among others for Win7. It appears tied to 32/64 bit differences,(driver hell) but the win10 so far is operating for a couple makes. If I cannot make it work in Win, I will try each under Wine in Linux. Give me a few weeks to configure and test and I'll report back. Only got the VXDiag Pro last week. I really like a big screen!
I have enough trouble programming with the Tech2, it takes all my patience and then some so I guess I’ll keep on doing it that way. My neighbors already think I’m nuts, sitting out in my driveway cussing at my truck. So much profanity lol.it will program just like the tech2, it's tech2win, works exactly the same, as for the gds2 function I haven't tried to program with it just diagnose
it is a pain in the dick to setup and then if anything updates (pc wise) you have to dick with it again, if you mess with one my best advice is turn off any and all security features before you even start because it has to change windows files to work and if the security is enabled it wont install right and windows will delete files and it just becomes a ******* headache.
It is a lot faster than the regular tech2 though once you have it up and running.
Your right in saying the VXDiag is not for you then. I sent mine back and got a handheld.I have enough trouble programming with the Tech2, it takes all my patience and then some so I guess I’ll keep on doing it that way.
