THat little intake fan that everyone thinks is onstar... So how DO you fix it?

I always read about people asking what it is..

But mine is making noise, does it need to be cleaned? Replaced? ANyone fix it? Seems to make noise only when I first start the truck

Some people had success cleaning it with a can of compressed air. Others had to replace. I saw a writeup on it awhile back. I think it was in the how to section.

I've had luck with a couple quick squirts of my air compressor whenever it has made noise!!

I remember that thread said you could use compressed air to try to clean it like said above. If that doesn't work, you could pull the headliner down a bit and replace the cabin temperature sensor, I think that's what it's called. I heard they're cheap to replace.

Are you guys talking about the circle mesh plastic thing in the headliner above the drivers head?

Yup, that's the object in question.

Mine makes noise sometimes. I'll hit it with some compressed air and see what happens.

I always thought that thing took the inside air temp so the vehicle would know to run hot or cold air when you had the air system on auto?

I believe that's exactly what it does. Mine did the same thing I just hit it with my air compressor as well and seemed to solve that noise.
