That's a pretty impressive looking engine I think.
I know it is very clean going back together, but if you are wondering about the "gold anodized" look to the front of engine before timing cover reinstall, that is a stain from the years of oil flow inside there. If so chose to do, that could be cleaned down to bare aluminum.

Are you using a parts washer or doing the cleaning by hand?
Here are a couple of screen shots of my friends answer:

The green bucket that is hanging there, holds an assortment of brushes to aid in the cleaning and they are different materials and stiffness and shapes.

About 5-6 months ago, I think, I did some work on a Lexus RX350, for a close friend of the landlord, on his daughter's vehicle. The friend had his daughter's car today about 1.5 hours away and CEL came on and then oil light came on and then heard engine noises. Checked dipstick and showed no reading. He called me. He added 2 quarts and still no reading. Finally on 4th quart he was getting a reading and he said was dripping oil and when started it, it was dripping way faster. I told him to shut off and have towed to shop. Instead, AAA is towing here for me to look at. The daughter is a college student and I know she never checks oil. Been long enough that I remember telling them that had a leak or two but not dripping then and keep an eye on it. Said he would or have her do it. "Yea, right!"

The two spots are where it left it's mark and then on the tow truck. Looks like the two spots are fuel dump lids at a gas station and the oil swirls are after spraying on the oil spots. This should be interesting.
