Yes it’s a 5.3. When I put my vin number in for parts the same one comes up.
And yes it’s a 1500.
if you had to force it open then it's possible, I would guess unless you can see something in there that doesn't look right and correct it then I don't know.
I would use a flashlight and see if maybe a metal tab got pushed and bent or anything like that.

I would say try and find one at the junkyard and just swap it out but I think yours might be a rare bird.
That's what happens when all the info is not given. Got the year and the model but no engine size. That is a very very rare drive by wire if in fact it is. 2001 is a cable vehicle. Gonna wait till I know for sure.

That was the early version of drive by wire on pre 03 suvs. They borrowed it from the vette.

1st one I have ever seen, almost like the secondary air injection they only had it on 1 or maybe 2 years and then it was gone
