We’ve got a 2016 with the 5.3 and around 60k miles (I think). Wife is concerned by the tick though most of the time it goes away or at least recedes. I know many here are much more knowledgeable about this than I. Is this a worry? I think it’s cold. It’s due for an oil change but no other major maintenance. And oil is up where it should be. I had an ‘11 Silverado with the other 5.3 and don’t remember this tick but who knows. Thanks.

How does it run down the road? Is there any vibration under load - like a misfire or similar? Any codes?

From the video at first I was going to blame a lifter, but it sounds more like it could be an exhaust leak. Look for broken bolts on the passenger ger side manifold and also check for evidence of exhaust blowing past the gasket (might leave a black-ish trail).

Does the noise go away once warm and easy driving? Does it show up when under high engine load?

sounds like lifter tap to me but take a flashlight and look at all the exhaust manifold bolts and make sure none are missing, if it only does it on a cold start could maybe be a exhaust leak

Under load it’s fine. Haven’t had any troubles at all. I drove it the other day and didn’t hear a thing, but after she pointed it out this morning and it was about 45f I heard it. She said it wasn’t really noticeable after it was warmed up and came home. I’ll go check the exhaust then. I had a car with lifter clack and I didn’t think that sounded like it.
Thank y’all for the feedback. I’ll update after getting back under the hood
