I have a 2001 Tahoe LS and the driver side front tire is scalloping on the inside. I have replaced the shocks, and had alignments done, and everything else looks ok, including the wheel bearing. Tire has been balanced. Any ideas?

First off, welcome to the forum! And this is posted in the wrong section. But I'll try to help anyway, I know you have had the alignments done and what not, but it sounds like either a ball joint is shot, or most likely a tie rod end. But you would think they would see that in the allignment shop, so I'm not sure where else to look. Are the shocks worn out? Does it sag on that side of the vehicle? Torision bars weakened or out of adjustment? If you have been taking it to the same spot for the work, is it a familiar place, or a new place? Do you have a trusted mechanic?

The list can go on and on, but start with the service tech, ask him what he thinks, and go from there.

Good luck!

heres another thought, since you had everything checked and repaired, have you rotated a new tire in its place to see if its corrected or still wearing funny? once a tire is worn all goofy, it will take a while to wear true again. you may consider getting the tire shaved/trued so you can confirm if its wearing bad still. im actually having mine trued tomorrow because the cheap tires have high spots and they wont road force balance till they are true again

rotate Rotate ROTATE! you need to Keep up with correct air pressures and make sure you get them tires cross rotated to minimize scalloping. I seen new cars that people dont rotate, Tires needed to be replaced just under 20k miles. Ive aligned cars that had badly scalloped tires but the alignment is all in the green.
