You obviously haven’t driven through Ventura, Santa Barbara, Oxnard and then up PCH through Big Sur.... until then stop talkin smack about SoCal.... lol
Oh yeah, I have driven that stretch once. It is beautiful. It was better 30 years ago when I drove it though, it’s getting crowded now I hear.

We used to go camping at lake naciemiento, which is an hour north of San Luis Obispo, just outside of Paso Robles. We would drive from here up to Santa Barbara and go up OCH a bit and then head inland afterwards to get towards San Luis Obispo. It was always such a pretty drive. I miss those trips! Lol

Ok guys, I'm starting to look for some parts to get for the new motor. Thx to @treehan77 I got the knock sensors--now I need (possibly)heavy duty or double timing chain, a Melling--or GM--oil pump--high volume?--thermostat, gonna use my same water pump since it has barely 20,000 miles on it, knock sensor harness, oil presdure sensor, the usual gaskets--intake, oil pan, main seal etc. I've already bought new lifters and trays. Still not sure if my old BTR cam is still good. If not, that's $400 right there. Anyone have any suggestions or comments? Especially about the timing chain and oil pump. Thx guys. Anything I'm forgetting?

If the cam is toast I'd call TSP, BTR or whoevers initials you prefer and have them put together a package deal. Then sweet talk them for a 10% off.

I hope the cam is okay tho! I'm in same boat hope my 224/228 is alright.

Now you have me thinking about the pushrods. Forgot about those. Besides the cam and pushrods, springs were also part of the supporting mods.client_PART_1508895312562_IMAG1609.jpg

You don't need a double timing chain, and if you did get one you would need to clearance the timing cover which you don't really want to do. I used a Cloyes roller timing set, you might look into their stuff- it's top notch.

My fault, I thought that spec sheet I posted said there was a double installed. Is the Cloyes setup a straight up install? Or is there some clearancing or anything else involved? I just want to replace the stocker and have a durable, yet easy install. My van has 147,000 on it, and it seemed to have alot of slack in it. Just want take care of that on the 6.0--just in case.

It’s a straight up install, instructions are easy to follow.
