Just pull the bolts that mount the front diff to the frame and let it droop. It’s just enough room to get the pan off, I’ve done it on my 02 Denali. Might have to pry down a bit on the diff while you wiggle the pan out but it’s not hard.
X2!! I had to drop the oil pan several times in less than a week trying to stop a leak from the screw that connects the oil cooler lines. I originally was thinking it was the oil pan gasket.

I keep forgetting to update the build thread! I was driving on the pkwy and my trans line popped off. Trans fluid was everywhere.View attachment 190357

Tried to do it myself, but I just couldn't get it to feed correctly, so off it went to the trans guy. Charged me $100. Well worth it. Guy told me I was lucky the Hoe didn't catch on fire! Atf is highly flammable. Gf said she hears some whistling while stepping on the gas only, but other then that, it's back up and running like a champ.
I installed a larger transmission cooler in thecopcar last spring. Road testing afterward, one of the joints I hadn’t properly tightened let go. What a bloody mess. Fortunately I had the tools with me to repair it and my wife did runner duty to bring more atf so I was able to drive to the car wash for a cleanup.

The one positive for you two is that trans fluid protects metal. I used to coat the undercarriage of my plow trucks with it. It cleans, lubes and protects.
My grandpa was a mechanic in a GM dealership for some time before opening his own shop. One of the detail tricks used to pretty up the used cars was to wipe them down with either atf o4 power steering fluid. I’ve seen the results, it does look fantastic for a short time.
