Also toss in how far you’re going and how often. If it’s under 50-100 miles and you’re close to the limit consider adding a trailer braking system. The other thing I’ve seen used is a weight distributing hitch. Makes things more stable and gets some of the load off your factory hitch.

I am assuming you are talking about something separate from the towing package electric breaking system...

Yeah I would get a weight distributing hitch.

Ok I’d look into an aftermarket trans cooler if you’re concerned about it and make sure it’s got new fluid and filter per your trucks manual.

What I found interesting when I was searching for my truck last year is that the 5.3 is rated to tow 200lbs more than the 6.2?? Since I pull a large boat and other big boats from time to time, and I honestly hate all the chrome that comes on the Denali I got a loaded SLT 5.3 and towing seems better than with my last 5.3 Suburban, but I have pulled boats that are north of 15k lbs with boat and trailer and thankfully the trailer brakes were really good, but I didn't go far pulling these, but I can tell you that in the instant of having to stop on a dime...I would roll like a freight train far past a dime.
The best truck for pulling what I call the big stuff is a F250 or F350, or GMC 2500 or 3500.
