Iv got an 07 Hoe LT with factory tow package. Ill be towing my 20ft travel trailer and loaded down is 3500lbs. Im doing all the research for max tongue weight and all that good stuff that the Hoe can handle and needed some guidance on some other things.

Im looking into getting a hitch with the anti sway bar and leveling bars attached. Not sure if this will be needed or not but thought i would ask to see if i could get a for sure yes or no on it before i drop the money. I know these hitches are really only needed for heavier loads with vehicles towing close to their max tow load. But sometimes its better safe than sorry when pulling travel trailers.

Also what is the install like for a trailer brake controller on these? Iv installed many in Fords but have yet to do one on anything else. And this truck is already equipped with the 7-way wiring harness.

Thanks,
- Alex

My 06 yukon has spent its entire life towing my boat which is 4200lbs, plus the trailer 1,000lbs plus gear. Up through mountain passes & 5+ plus hour destinations without any issue whatsoever. camanche4.jpg Just hitch it up & go.

A trailer brake is very easy to install on a hoe. All you need to do is pull down the wires (under the dash) and buy an adapter that converts them to the appropriate plug for your brake controller and attach the wire next to the fuse box to the bolt inside the housing. Here is a video if that helps.

I tow a camper trailer, approx. 5500lbs loaded with a equalizer hitch. Helps keep the front end down. I did add an aftermarket Transmission Cooler kit. Rides like a bucking bronco on some the concrete roads that have been cut. :head3:

Equalizer hitch
Sway control
Trailer brake control
Air bags
Big transmission cooler

The above will tow safely with confidence.

smtaylor, Put in a set of air bags and be done with the bucking bronco.

Ill look into the airbags for sure. I think I will hold off on the anti sway connection after I see how it rides for awhile. I plan on taking this TT a good 2k+ mile trip and would like to avoid any issues. I feel that the weight of the trailer will be ok with truck from what I have read in these replys along with my own research and after I hook er up will make a decision if I need the weight distribution hitch or not. Im leaning towards no.

Once I get the truck ill take a look and see if it has the trany cooler or not. I would think with a factory hitch that it should have it but like I said I have not been able to get my eyes on the truck it self yet. As its set now ill be getting it in on the evening of the 21st. Lets hope I dont have anymore delays. I really want this thing here so I can enjoy my investment.

Looking forward to driving this thing and hope its all that I have been lead to be told it was. Thanks for the help and input.

I would do the weight distribution. Pretty much it pushes the ball upwards which puts some weight onto your front axle. I've towed with the suburban with and without distribution, and definitely prefer it. I even had buddies with 1 tons try with and without and they all use weight distribution. The difference on a boat is that those trailers are meant not to use the distribution because it interferes with the action of the surge brakes.

If my suburban gets bouncy with another 2 ft of wheelbase a tahoe will be even more so, its just physics. Its not like you're doing a 5 mile trip, 2k miles is a bunch of miles, also make sure you have a spare for the trailer, and tools to change it.
